Port Wine Kopke Harvest 1957
Port Wine Kopke Harvest 1957
Each wine tells a story. In the case of Colheita Kopke, this story is unique. Savoring a wine is savoring history and in the case of this Harvest, it is recording important episodes such as the signing of the Treaty of Rome, which established the European Economic Community (EEC). Harvested by hand at their optimum point, the grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and vinified according to a process that is based on careful maceration with harvesting of color, tannins and aromas from the skins, complemented by permanent pumping over during fermentation. This decoration is carried out in mills, at a controlled temperature between 28-30º, until the desired Baumé degree is reached. At this stage, wine brandy (benefit) is added, creating a fortified wine. Aged in wood for varying periods of time, never less than 7 years,
Amber color with tawny nuances. Complex and delicate nose, where well-integrated resinous aromas stand out with notes of almonds, honey and candied orange. Sweet, elegant and balanced palate, well surrounded by hints of caramel. Soft and persistent finish.
